Perlite is an inexpensive, lightweight, pH-neutral and inert plant substrate material. It does not react with any elements in the soil or disturb its balance.

Perlite is used for mixing with traditional growing media, which promotes soil aeration, helps retain a certain level of moisture in the substrate, improves drainage and helps insulate the soil from extreme temperatures in very hot climates.
